Kate’s Yoga Journey
Kate, the owner and founder of Greenstone Retreat, has been teaching yoga since 2019. With a background in personal training, sports therapy, massage, and hospitality, she brings a rich understanding of both the physical and emotional sides of wellbeing.
Kate’s deep love for holistic living and connection has guided the evolution of Greenstone Retreat into what many now call “THE West Coast Holistic Healing Retreat” — a sanctuary shaped by a team of therapists, helpers, and supporters who share her vision.
Blending her yoga background with ongoing studies in Paganism, Shamanism, and other spiritual traditions, Kate has developed a deeply personal and inclusive style of teaching. Her sessions weave together movement, sound, energy work, and intuitive connection, offering a space where students can truly realign body, mind, and spirit.

Kate currently holds:
- Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training (2019, My Health Yoga)
- Yin Yoga Training (2020, Yoga with Kassandra)
- Reiki Level 1 (2023, Claire of Light Academy NZ)
- Level 2 Yoga Teacher Training (2025, My Health Yoga)
Come experience Kate’s welcoming and nurturing classes in the EVOLve Studio at Greenstone Retreat.

Yoga Lineage
Kate’s yoga journey is rooted in a traditional Hatha yoga lineage that connects her to some of the most respected teachers in modern yoga history:

- Swami Sivananda (1887–1963) – A visionary spiritual leader who founded the Divine Life Society in 1936, Swami Sivananda promoted the unity of body, mind, and spirit through yoga, meditation, and selfless service. His teachings remain a cornerstone of modern yoga worldwide.
- Swami Vishnudevananda (1927–1993) – One of Swami Sivananda’s closest disciples, Swami Vishnudevananda brought Sivananda Yoga to the West and developed the Five Points of Yoga (proper exercise, breathing, relaxation, diet, and meditation) and the Four Paths of Yoga (Karma, Bhakti, Raja, and Jnana).
- Swami Devananda – Continuing in this lineage, Swami Devananda upheld the balance of physical practice (asana and pranayama) and spiritual discipline (meditation and service).
- Kamala Devi – A student of Swami Devananda, Kamala Devi carried these teachings forward with devotion and authenticity.
- Carrie-Anne Fields – Founder of My Health Yoga, Carrie-Anne has brought these classical teachings into the modern era, blending tradition with accessibility and compassion.
This lineage, passed down through decades of dedicated teachers, connects Kate to a living tradition of balance, mindfulness, and spiritual growth.
Namaste.
